Jan.8th, 2019 - The Inuit in northern Canada have made it quite clear that the ice is changing. Or disappearing for longer periods of time. This means Canadas northern seas are getting bigger or have more traffic. Which means there will be more chances of search and rescue efforts. But are we as a country prepared? What kind of consequences could this have to our oceans and those travelling on them? A three year report has been concluded but the Senate Standing Committee on just this issue for the future. Our own Senator Nancy Hartling was on the committee and visited the buzzlocal studio to discuss the challenges and some of the possible solutions.
